What this tool does
Facebook Video Downloader saves a public video from Facebook to your device, so you can watch it offline. Paste a video link, pick a quality, and download -- no account, no browser extension, and no Facebook login required.
How It Works
When you paste a link, the server resolves the video's available formats using yt-dlp, an open-source media resolver, and lists the qualities available without logging in. When you press Download, the server fetches that stream and relays it straight back to your browser as a download -- it is deleted from the server the moment it finishes sending.
Problems it solves
- Saving a video for offline viewing somewhere streaming is not practical, like a flight or an area with no signal.
- Keeping a personal copy of a video before it is taken down or made unavailable.
- Avoiding a browser extension or desktop app just to save one video.
How to Download
- 1 Copy the video link -- open the video on Facebook and copy its link from the address bar or the Share button.
- 2 Paste and fetch -- paste the link and press Fetch to load the video's title and available qualities.
- 3 Pick a quality -- choose a resolution from the list.
- 4 Save the video -- press Download and follow your browser's prompt.
On Your Device
In the Facebook app, tap the share icon on the video, tap Copy Link, then paste it here in Chrome.
Tap the share icon on the video in the Facebook app, tap Copy Link, open this page in Safari, and paste.
Copy the video's URL from your browser's address bar on facebook.com.
Key Features
- No installation and no Facebook account -- works entirely in the browser.
- Resolves real, audio-included quality options rather than silent, video-only streams.
- Handles facebook.com and fb.watch links.
- One click, one file -- no bundled ads.
Limitations & Availability
- Private, friends-only, and group-restricted videos are not reachable, even if you can view them in your own signed-in session.
- Live videos that are still broadcasting are not supported, only ones that have already finished.
- A generated download link expires -- fetch the video again if it stops working.
Troubleshooting
›Fetching fails even for a public video
Facebook can rate-limit automated requests -- reopen the video on Facebook.com to confirm it still plays, then try again after a short wait.
›Link points to a photo or text post instead of a video
Make sure the link opens a video directly -- a link to a profile, group, or photo post has nothing for this tool to fetch.
›Only one or two quality options appear
This is normal -- Facebook doesn't always expose a full ladder of resolutions for every video, especially older or short ones.
›Download fails for a long video
Try again after a short wait -- very long videos take longer to prepare.
Frequently asked questions
›Is this legal?
It depends on the video and your local law. This tool only retrieves the same public video Facebook already sends to any browser that loads a public video page -- it does not unlock private, friends-only, or group-restricted content. Facebook's own terms technically restrict third-party downloading, though enforcement against personal, occasional use is weak and there is a large market of similar tools. You should still respect the original creator's rights, especially for anything you plan to reuse or republish.
›Why did fetching fail for my link?
The video may be private, friends-only, restricted to a group you're not in, or deleted, or Facebook may be rate-limiting automated requests at that moment. Reopen the video on Facebook.com, confirm it still plays there, copy the link again, and try once more after a short wait.
›Does this work for Facebook Reels?
Yes, as long as the Reel is public. Paste the Reel's own link the same way you would for a regular video.
›Does this work for Watch Party or live videos?
No, only videos that have already finished uploading or broadcasting. Watch Parties and in-progress live videos are not supported.
›Why do some Facebook videos only offer one quality?
Facebook doesn't generate a full set of resolutions for every upload -- shorter or older videos in particular are often only stored at one or two sizes to begin with.
Respecting Creators
Facebook creators and Pages earn through Reels bonuses, in-stream ads, and fan subscriptions tied to engagement on the platform itself. Save videos for personal use or reference, credit the original creator if you repost anything, and avoid passing off someone else's video as your own.
