What this tool does

Fill in your site title, a short summary, and a few sections of links, and this tool generates a ready-to-use llms.txt file following the llmstxt.org specification, with a live preview and one-click copy or download.

How It Works

The llms.txt format is plain Markdown with a specific shape: an H1 with the site title, a blockquote with a one-line summary, an optional free-text introduction, and then any number of H2 sections, each containing a Markdown list of links with an optional description after a colon. This tool assembles exactly that structure from your form inputs, and collects the links from any section marked Optional into a single Optional heading placed at the very end, exactly as the specification describes.

Problems it solves

Frequently asked questions

›What is llms.txt and why would my site need one?

llms.txt is a proposed convention (from llmstxt.org) for a plain-text, markdown file placed at the root of a website, similar in spirit to robots.txt, except it is written for AI assistants and language models rather than search crawlers. It gives them a short, structured map of your most important pages instead of forcing them to crawl and guess.

›Where do I put the generated file?

Save it as llms.txt and upload it to the root of your website, so it is reachable at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt, the same way robots.txt or sitemap.xml are served from the root.

›What does marking a section as "Optional" do?

Per the llms.txt convention, links placed under a heading literally named "Optional" are considered secondary. An AI assistant working with a limited context budget may choose to skip that section first, while still reading your primary sections. This tool automatically collects every link from any section you mark as Optional into a single Optional heading at the end of the file.

›Does this tool verify that my links actually work?

No, it only checks that each URL is syntactically well-formed (a valid http or https address), flagging anything that looks incomplete or malformed. It does not fetch the URLs or confirm the pages exist, since that would require contacting external servers.

›Do I need a section for every page on my site?

No. The llms.txt convention is meant to be a curated, high-signal summary, not a full sitemap. List the handful of pages that best explain what your site or project is about, grouped into a few clearly named sections.
