What this tool does
Type or paste Markdown on the left and see it rendered as formatted HTML on the right, updating as you type. Switch to the HTML source view to see and copy the exact sanitized markup your Markdown produced.
How It Works
The open-source marked library parses your Markdown text into an HTML string following the GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM) rules for headings, lists, code blocks, tables, and the rest. That HTML is then passed through DOMPurify, a sanitization library that removes scripts, inline event handlers, and other active content before the result is inserted into the page, so the preview can never execute arbitrary code even if the Markdown contains raw HTML.
Problems it solves
- Checking how a README, comment, or documentation page will actually look before publishing it.
- Getting the sanitized HTML output of a Markdown snippet to paste into another system.
- Learning or testing Markdown syntax with instant visual feedback.
Frequently asked questions
›Is raw HTML inside my Markdown rendered?
Markdown allows embedding raw HTML, and this tool renders it, but every bit of output is passed through DOMPurify before it reaches the page, which strips scripts, event handlers, and other active content. This means the preview is safe to use even with untrusted or copy-pasted Markdown.
›What Markdown features are supported?
This tool supports GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM): headings, bold and italic text, ordered and unordered lists, blockquotes, inline code and fenced code blocks, links, images, horizontal rules, and tables.
›Can I get the generated HTML instead of just a preview?
Yes, switch to the "HTML source" view to see the exact sanitized HTML your Markdown produced, and use the Copy HTML button to copy it to your clipboard.
›Why does my code block lose its syntax highlighting color?
This tool renders plain semantic HTML (a <pre><code> block) without a syntax-highlighting library attached, so code blocks appear in a single color. The language you specify after the opening fence (like ```js) is preserved as a CSS class on the output in case your own site applies highlighting afterward.
›Does this tool save or share what I type?
No. Rendering happens entirely in your browser using the open-source marked library, and nothing you type is sent to a server.
