What this tool does

Twitch Clip Downloader saves a public Twitch clip to your device, so you can watch it offline. Paste a clip link, pick a quality, and download -- no account, no browser extension, and no Twitch login required.

How It Works

When you paste a link, the server resolves the clip's available formats using yt-dlp, an open-source media resolver, and lists the qualities available without logging in. When you press Download, the server fetches that stream and relays it straight back to your browser as a download -- it is deleted from the server the moment it finishes sending.

Problems it solves

How to Download

  1. 1 Copy the clip link -- open the clip on Twitch and copy its clips.twitch.tv link from the Share button.
  2. 2 Paste and fetch -- paste the link and press Fetch to load the clip's title and available qualities.
  3. 3 Pick a quality -- choose a resolution from the list.
  4. 4 Save the clip -- press Download and follow your browser's prompt.

Key Features

Limitations & Availability

  • Only clips.twitch.tv links are supported, not full twitch.tv VODs or live channel pages.
  • Clips created from a channel that has since gone private, been banned, or deleted its VODs may no longer be reachable.
  • A generated download link expires -- fetch the clip again if it stops working.

Troubleshooting

›Fetching fails even for a clip that plays fine on Twitch

Twitch can rate-limit automated requests -- reopen the clip on Twitch.com to confirm it still plays, then try again after a short wait.

›"This clip is no longer available" error

The clip itself (not just the source stream) has been deleted by its creator or Twitch -- there is no way to recover a clip once this happens.

›Link doesn't work in this tool

Make sure you're pasting the clips.twitch.tv short link, not a link to the full VOD or channel page -- this tool is scoped to clips only.

›Only one quality option appears

Short or lower-resolution clips sometimes only have one quality available to begin with -- this reflects what Twitch itself stored.

Frequently asked questions

›Is this legal?

It depends on the clip and your local law. This tool only retrieves the same public clip Twitch already sends to any browser that loads a public clip page -- it does not unlock subscriber-only or deleted content. Twitch's own terms technically restrict third-party downloading, though enforcement against personal, occasional use is weak and there is a large market of similar tools. You should still respect the original streamer's rights, especially for anything you plan to reuse or republish.

›Why did fetching fail for my link?

The clip may have been deleted, or Twitch may be rate-limiting automated requests at that moment. Reopen the clip on Twitch.com, confirm it still plays there, copy the link again, and try once more after a short wait.

›Does this work for full VODs or live streams?

No, this tool is scoped specifically to short clips.twitch.tv links. A separate tool is needed for full VOD downloads, since those involve much larger files and a different set of considerations.

›Who made the clip -- the streamer or the clipper?

Both have a role: the streamer created the original broadcast, and the clipper chose that specific moment to turn into a clip. The uploader name this tool shows is the clip's creator, not necessarily the streamer.

›Can I download a clip from a channel that has since been banned?

Usually not. When Twitch removes a channel, its clips typically become unreachable as well, even if the clip link itself still loads in a browser.

Respecting Creators

Twitch streamers and clip creators build their following through views, follows, and subscriptions tied to engagement on the platform itself. Save clips for personal use or reference, credit the original streamer if you repost anything, and avoid passing off someone else's clip as your own.
